ExxonMobil’s Energy Outlook to 2040 has forecast electric vehicles and hybrid vehicle numbers to grow to more than 150 million worldwide as uptake accelerates, much of it in the Asia-Pacific region.

While the transport sector’s use of traditional fuels will decline, oil and gas will remain a pillar of the automotive industry, thanks to its use in making plastics.
